Who says you’re not perfect?
There will always be people that find fulfillment in pointing out the faults of others. They thrive in the idea that they know better. Where the truly great stumbled, there they lounge and pat themselves on the back. Where the talented and skillful flopped, there they bask in the hubristic admiration of themselves, proud of their exceptional wisdom to have seen what others failed to see all the while.
Faultfinders. They call themselves critics. The few that have never even risked out to get their feet wet but whine endlessly about the rain.
Well, they don’t matter.
You have proven, beyond all doubt, that you belong up there. All glory belongs to the player, not the spectator. Your doubts and uncertainties are all part of your greatness- they do not deter you, they encourage you to be better at everything you do! Your failures- they propel you to carry on and persist in the fight to make all your dreams come true!
Because after all is said and done, it was all you. Where they did not have the guts for, you charged in. Where they did not have the nerves to venture into, you dared.

Haay Meng. You just don’t know kung paano mo kami nachacharm dahil sa ganyang moments of pagpapakatotoo mo. She just keeps pulling us. Nakakaloka. She’s like a younger sister to me na.
I always pray for her. Na sana makita niyang ang daming nakasuporta sa kanya, na andaming mga taong nagpapadala ng positive messages sa kanya. I hope kahit papano maging secure siya kahit konti lang sa suporta at pagmamahal ng mga fans niya. I know it’s very difficult to find the demons within pero sana kumapit siya sa pagmamahal at suporta ng mga taong nagmamahal sa kanya.

Who else can do that?- only Maine
Politically- inclined people got interested into LT or showbiz. Current events readers/viewers converted to Kalyeserye viewer. Social media detached before but now a 24 hr glued to Twitter, IG and FB. Pessimist into optimist. Those would define me before I saw Maine on EB. She is the one who brought back my hope in Phil showbiz, as I usually viewed it as a nasty entertainment and just a waste of time.
And, as I read other people’s POV, it’s heartwarming to know that she has a good influence to many- because she is true, unpretentious, humble, and exquisite.
Way to go Meng! You’ll do a lot more and change the world you’ve embraced into a better one 🙂
From then on, I’ll have peace of mind leaving my kids in front of television.

If you take a scale and place all the people that support and love Maine on one side and put those who criticize her for her so called “lack of experience” on the other, I am sure the number of people who think she rocks, vastly outweigh the naysayers. Yet for some reason, the voice of the minority still resonated and drowned out the rest of us who are cheering for her.
Overcoming issues with self-esteem is tough. It takes a conscious effort to focus on the positive. On the one hand, it may help someone stay humble but taken too far, it becomes the very thing that drags down an otherwise talented person and keeps him/her from reaching full potential. Maine is brave for admitting it, facing it and doing something about it.
I might get a negative reaction for saying this but in my opinion, winning the heart of the guy at this point may be inconsequential. Maine is on a mission and it is a solitary one. She’s out there to find herself and regardless of who comes along for the ride, she is out to make sure she gets to her destination. You go girl!

Right on! I got goosebumps reading her recent post. I mean, Maine is so relatable with how transparent she is to her fans. Much like her, I too have had walls built upon insecurities that I am slowly breaking because of how much she is an inspiration to not only me, but millions of Filipinos all around the world. Maine is a living example that dreams do come true and that in God’s time, everything will fall into place.

I have never been a fan of any celebrity before. NOT EVER. Even as a teen, no one impressed me enough to make me want to root for their success. But your sister’s friend said it best: Maine is a “game-changer!”
For someone who has made it her business to look silly, critics will find the irony in the way we rave about her beauty and intelligence. But we see these qualities because they are just so palpable. Who can even deny the proofs of her genius (eg. the pabebe wave, split screen whispers, pinky swear)?
Oh yes, Maine, I noticed those spontaneous “fights” you picked against inanimate objects (eg. sliding door) or external catalysts (eg. audience shouting “I love you, Alden”) probably so you can avoid eye contact with him. Or offering your hand (in pagmamano) so as to give Alden an excuse to touch you. Sure, it is possible (though highly unlikely) that these were instructed to you BUT for you to have done these so naturally is impressive. Ang GALING mo, Meng!
It is amazing how you managed to rewrite your character so that instead of being just a supporting role to Lola Nidora, Yaya has become the co-star of the show. Jose probably sensed it when he pushed you on the 2nd day of the KS and said, “Ang galing mo talaga, Yaya” while you were doing your pabebe waves to Alden. Kahit sa 2nd day mo pa lang sa Problem Solving humirit na sya na “hindi ka namin kailangan dito kasi kaya ko rin gawin yan (pagdudubsmash),” you kept at it. For someone who started off having low-self esteem, you have come a long way. And on Saturday, you exuded that confidence on stage.
And this isn’t just from dumb luck. Aminin mo… for the past two Saturdays, you acted your butt off! You were in character for the looongest period of time among the entire cast. For you to have done so live (bawal ang take 2!) with no commercial breaks and armed with just 3 months of showbiz experience? Iba ka! Iba ang energy mo! Halimaw ka!
You need not fear being thought of as a “dim-witted” actor because clearly you are NOT. As Senyor Pedro aptly put it, you’ve “got wits up your wahoo!” And last Saturday, you’ve proven that you’ve got rhythm, too. (Of course, you do! Otherwise, how could you have pulled off those dubsmashes and dropped those perfectly timed jokes?)
I could go on about your potential for drama, too, pero mahaba na ito (nakakahiya na kay Sir Vilo)…. Yes, I totally agree with you… marami-rami ka nang napatunayan. Kulang pa yang mga nabanggit ko. You have every right to be proud. So please… please do YOURSELF a favor and not let your pessimism keep you from living your dream.
Stay happy, Meng! Because seeing you happy makes us happy…. kaya ka effective magpatawa! Keep working hard on your dream kasi kahit abot kamay mo na sya, malayo pa ang ililipad mo!

It has changed so many lives and brought happiness…life changing talaga lalo na sakin! Whenever you feel sad and discouraged, all you need to do is to see “us”..”we” who would always be caring, cheering you on, who believes in you, protective of you and loving you! (I was never a fan until i meet you) Hahaha!

Meng deserves it! Well I think she has all the right formula in becoming a big star because she did not do it for the money, no offense meant to those who started in the business to alleviate their lives, but seriously, she did it because she enjoyed it. I think the motivation to prove herself is the reason why she is soaring high now. Plus the infectious smile and attitude that radiates from her is imparted to all her followers. I will support you all the way!

It’s sad to think that we should just dismiss fans who expect too much from this loveteam. I think they’re just too young, too impatient, too excited for things to happen right away.
As part of the older generation, I try to do my part by explaining to young people the values, virtues and passion incorporated in each Kalyeserye episodes. If we scold them or belittle whatever emotions they feel, be it silly or otherwise, then we would fail as fans and as human beings.
So, just as our beloved Maine and Alden continue to inspire us, let us not waver in our resolve to also inspire others. Before we can open the eyes of our youths to see the beauty that we see, we must set the right example. We must begin the change within ourselves.

Been reading some harsh words about A lately. Poor guy. He seems to have found himself in a catch-22 “damn if I do, damn if I don’t” situation.
If I recall, M stated in her recent interview with Ricky Lo that if Alden wants to court her all he has to do is ask her parents permission.
Soooo…adding to all your speculations, it’s possible that A is just holding off until he speaks to her parents. Obviously, the boy has a hectic schedule so who knows when that’ll happen (and he’ll likely need some extra time to grow a pair). And if RFJ truly is a gentleman like Maine thinks he is, he will NOT give in to the demand and pressure from the fans to hurry things along. That’s not how he is. He would want to do it the right way. She deserves nothing less. And so, when the tamang panahon comes and they’re both ready, he will respect her wish and ask for her parents blessings. Because love is predicated on respect, understanding, and patience. That is how it should be.

And if Maine still believes the random thought she wrote on March 16, 2014 (titled Little Things), Richard Jr. and Maine’s “tamang panahon” won’t be any time soon.
To quote her, “Getting to know a person, whether it be a love interest or a friend, is not easy; it will actually be a struggle for some at first, but it’s always nice to know someone thoroughly– from being total strangers to acquaintances, to friends then to best friends/lovers….
It would take a lot of time and effort though. It’s impossible for you to fully know a person at once– it is something that has to go through a number of stages. You get along and spend time with them every so often so you could figure them out little by little…”
Wala pa nga sila sa first stage as they haven’t had any time to spend with each other yet… We should all just let them take their sweet time enjoying their magical moments on screen first and give them space to get to know each other at a pace they are comfortable with.
People overlook the fact that this tandem worked because A contributed not only his looks and talents but his REPUTATION (I wanted to say character but I don’t really know him personally). If it had been any other young talented, good-looking actor with a hard-partying womanizing rep sitting on that studio stage, it wouldn’t have worked because Vilo won’t see him as a representation of his Filipino gentleman self. And all other barako’s (and ate’s) wouldn’t be rooting for him the way they have in this little nook in cyberspace.
So I believe that A and his career wouldn’t be “damned” if he stayed true to his reputation (of being a God-fearing gentleman) regardless of how their real story plays out. There will be backlash (and wrath) IF he doesn’t act like the gentleman that he is purported to be. But since there has been no indication so far that he isn’t, he shouldn’t be made to feel restricted to act or not act a certain way. If he is the good guy we think he is, he just has to “be true” and all will be well.

I didn’t know who Alden was before all of this (there are no Pinoy channels where I live) but based on what I’ve seen so far, he does seem personable and has a good head on his shoulders. Honestly, when all of this started, it didn’t really matter much to me whether or not their tandem will go beyond reel. I was happy just watching their interactions on KS. I’m more of a Maine fan and will support her regardless of who she’s paired with (and who she chooses to date in real life is really nobody’s business).
But over time, Alden has grown on me. It’s true that he’s been walking the fine line between taking it slow and appearing disinterested, making many fans frustrated and impatient with him. But I think both of these kids are more mature and self-aware than we give them credit for. And people with these inherent traits usually don’t rush into anything (Maine’s blog entry confirmed that about her). Amidst the fans complaining that their relationship isn’t progressing faster, I hope that they don’t give in to their pressure and just keep going with the pace they’re comfortable with. Taking their time will allow them to have a stronger sense of how they really feel about each other…
Because when you find something this good, you want to take your sweet time with it. You want to hold on and prolong it for as long as you can. And the very last thing you want is to reach the end of the road. Not anytime soon, not ever, not when you know you could take things slow.

True. I have the exact same sentiments as you… I didn’t know much about A before the KS (I’ve never seen A’s work because I prefer cable shows and ABS-CBN/Star Cinema/indie-produced shows/films)… I’m a bigger M fan but have grown to like A too… I’ll also support M whoever she’s paired with on screen (as long as the quality of her work is sustained)… and yes, whoever she dates for real is none of our business (the same goes for A)!… but I’ll also add that I may be a bigger fan of the KS than any of the personalities (I think).
The reason I quoted them is to show proof of what I’ve always sensed about them – that they already know what they’re doing (in both their careers and personal lives). Pampagulo lang talaga tayo. Hahaha.

I’m surprised that most of my favorite commenters here are more Maine fans than Alden’s.
Like most of you, I admire Alden, too. At the height of my AlDub obsession, I became very impatient with Alden’s speed and decided, I don’t have to be his fan, I can still root for Maine. And that’s what I’ve been doing since.
AlDub would not have been this successful without Alden, but woah boy, these past days without him proved that it can really thrive and still be funny, dramatic, and definitely watchable. Maine has been funnier, wackier and very versatile—the tears when she read Isadora’s letter? That’s raw talent right there.
I will be happier if the A&M match will happen but no, it wouldn’t devastate me if it won’t. Not anymore. Maine will be fine and with a great family and fans behind her, she will continue to gain more confidence and explore the world of Philippine showbiz on her own.
She can write, sing, dance, play drums and can definitely act. She will be fine.

I don’t know if you’re referring to me but what got me here in the first place was Vilo’s “Why Men Go Gaga Over Maine Mendoza” post so it’s not a surprise that I’m a huge M fan.
I’ve criticized A for his acting (or lack thereof) in the KS but I recognize his contribution to the “phenomenon” that KS has become (so I’m not going to join the A-bashing bandwagon). Sure, I’ll still be entertained watching Yaya’s interaction with any other actor (case in point: Baby Baste! Haha.) but I won’t keep coming back to this comment-section-turned-forum to read people’s over-analysis of the actors’ micro-expressions and tweets because I wouldn’t be rooting for M to end up with another run-of-the-mill jerk with a bloated ego (aka actor).
But you are right. I’ve come to appreciate the KS team esp. Maine more now that A is out of the picture. (I’d still like for them to pick up where they left off though.)
And speaking of her versatility, aside from that “Isadora letter”-reading epi, I’d like to cite 2 other instances that convinced me of M’s dramatic acting skills: the “Kaibigan mo lang ako, Alden!” fake dubsmash and her body language when she shouted, “This must be love!”. I’m so excited for all the possibilities for her acting career especially outside the Aldub tandem. Yes, this girl can act!
Her critics make valid points about her mediocre singing, dancing and drum playing skills but they fail to realize that no other actress in Philippine showbiz can do what she has done in KS. Anyone can dubsmash, true (and it may not even be considered a talent), but live improvisational acting (which is what she has been doing all along) requires more than just good timing and precise command of facial muscles, it demands presence of mind, wit and creativity. And she has all that in spades. Voice acting na lang talaga. She has the adequate singing and dancing skills to complement Yaya’s comedy act naman so far (wag lang sya sumabak pa sa musical theatre until she’s totally confident, then she’s good). Any other skill that her character needs to show, she can always learn.
Sorry, nag-fangirl mode na naman ako. Hahaha. I can’t wait for what the MaJoWaPao crew would churn out in the coming episodes (kahit wala si A). I just hope she musters the confidence to do the spiels and interviews at JFA AFJ too kasi feeling ko maraming “Ligaw tips” sana siyang na-contribute sa Sugod-Bahay kanina. Haha. That segment could use a female perspective.

I totally agree, madolldoll. And I also think it’s really time for her to talk. If she’s half as good in speaking as she is in writing (the girl can write!), then I think she will be fine.
I also don’t want to bash Alden. He’s a really sensitive, respectful, honest, and a loving young man. He will go places, more than he already does. But I also don’t want to push a square peg to a round hole. If they’re not matched in real life, I’d still think of him as someone who’s made a difference in our lives. He has set the bar high for what young girls should look for in a manliligaw. I will always be grateful for his contribution to KS.
But our girl Maine I will always cheer for! She has grown right before our very eyes. We have become her cheerleaders as she reaps all these endorsements one after the other. For someone with low self-esteem, she has shown great courage and that right there is a good example to our young ones on how to conquer fear.
I’m a mom of a teenager and while she’s such an American girl, she watches KS with me and calls Alden her “Asian crush!”. I explained the whole concept of KS and told her that’s how I was courted several moons ago–with my parent’s permission and always with a chaperone. She giggles everytime I tell her these stories… it’s like a whole new world for her. She thinks Maine is beautiful and now tries to convince me to buy her drums. I’m thinking about it.
Anyway, I like reading everyone’s thoughts and especially love dear Vilo’s loveletters:-) Nakakatuwang umibig ang mga barako!
And yeah, Way to go Meng! I’ll be rooting for you from afar!

Yes, the girl can write (kaya nga I know she could’ve contributed “ligaw tips,” too. haha). But she also mentioned in her blog that she feels more comfortable sharing her thoughts and feelings in writing than public speaking (and I can relate to her in that regard) so no pressure here.
And you made another good point about the endorsements… she is perfect for TV commercial acting! I heard one actor say before that acting in commercials is actually more difficult because they demand precise facial expressions. And because they’re really short, they have to get the timing of the reactions right to the second. So she can add her commercials to her acting resume, too.
And one other thing I love about her is how she’s redefined the concept of beauty especially for the little girls who admire her. I love that she continues to post her unflattering photos and videos (where she is without a stitch of make-up). I find that quiet confidence very beautiful (aside from her raw talent, sense of humor and articulate writing – the intangibles that make one truly beautiful). It’s tantamount to advocating true beauty (eg. being comfortable with who you are/in your own skin). So her Catholic Social Media Achievement award was well-deserved.
And yes, I’m very thankful to Vilo, too, for his love letters and insights (and for tolerating my fan girl posts. hahaha).

Exactly! Maine is still a little shy about putting her thoughts into words but the ‘How to make me fall in love with you’ perspective of a female is truly a good segment to work on.
The girl commands attention. She told Alden today that ‘ligawan mo muna ako’ and it looks like he did just that—if fellow overthinkers are correct. He may have just visited her house before he went to this Bulacan gig.
I hope they work on this more—something like ‘What a girl wants…’ version of Kalyeserye.

True. She’s always been vocal about being shy. I love that her kulit personality still comes out in her questions though. And yes there’s comedy gold mine in the “What Women Want” concept (reminds me of the Mel Gibson-starrer which I thought was a hilarious movie).

But for me, M is already doing great right now. Those commercials they/she did, its at the highest peck right now. Eh Hindi pa nga sya nakakapagsalita sa lagay nayan. In addition, M has a talent. Yong moment na umiyak sya, maraming nagulat coz she did it very well and so natural. Maraming humahanga sa kanya just the way she is. Indeed she’s very influencial woman.

I think RFJ has shown his fondness of NDCM since July and has been looking after her welfare since. Hindi lang siya demonstrative as everybody wants him to be. In one of their earlier FS he told her “Bahala ako sa Iyo” and that includes keeping it real for both of them. Three months pa lang silang magkakilala and apat na beses pa lang nag kita. Paano nila masasabi na mahal na nila ang isat’ isa? This is why I agree with NDCM that he is a super gentleman. He refused to take the bait and gave the answer that everybody wants to hear to protect her. Can you just imagine the extra added pressure on both of them – especially to her if he suddenly declares his love for her in public? NDCM registers as “kalog” but at the same time a very sensible and grounded woman. Hindi uubra and hugot/pick up lines sa kanya. Anong klaseng lalaki ba naman yan na sa Social Media nanliligaw (kaya nga mag paalam lang sa parents dapat).
Having said that, I think their exchange of private letters has allowed them to know each other better. I think they know now where everything stands between the two of them. RFJ has loosened up at panay panay na nga ang PDA especially before his Zambo and JPN trip. Naaawa na nga ako kasi malamang kinabag na siya sa kahahalik sa hangin.
At any rate, ano man ang mangyari, these kids will be good friends forever and there’s nothing wrong with that. I married mine.
Also, for all its worth, ME is US Postal Service’s abbreviation for the state of Maine.

I get you. That’s the appeal of the KS for some – wanting to “blur reelity” (misspelling intentional) – like wanting A not to act and just be himself or A calling Yaya Dub Maine. Kaya nababaliw ang mga tao sa kaka-overanalyze ng mga FS. Hahaha.
Not for me though. I value the KS story more than some people. I’d rather have him be professional about this gig and not bring his shit to the show (OA yung iyak nya e. Halatang hindi tumugma sa motivation ni Coach Cynthia este Lola Nidora)… and for crying out loud can’t he see that all his co-actors are working their butts off for the show, Maine especially as Yaya Dub? The least he can do is call her by her character name.

@madolldoll, it’s been commented and often repeated here that A’s character in KS is particularly difficult to process because he is playing himself — the TV actor and host. His role is criscrossing reel and real life. These FS, for the most part (as you know, and I assume you know) are their own initiatives, some guided by the BTS team. The players have to improv all the time and to tie up the FS with whatever flimsy story instructions they get, and these directions also depend on how everyone is reacting to any given situation during a show.
His “bringing his shit” to the show — though I wouldn’t word it that way — is why I am here, watching this show in the first place. I’d call it — what brought me here — raw emotions addiction, which (again imo) is part of KS’s charms. Absolutely fascinated about what is being unveiled before me. That it is a public service program (with plenty slapsticks comedy) with an accidental love story; with a reality show twist.
It seems to me that all of them appreciate each other’s contribution to the show. A is working his butt off like the rest of the team. It is his name, professional reputation, actions, emotions that are displayed every damn day, along with M’s. I take it when you say you “had to carry A’s burdens” and cited one of these as the death of his mom … actually I don’t really get that. It just caught my attention and my first reaction when I read your comment was — well, that was harsh. But of course it’s your opinion. With all due respect though, that was ouch!

I do watch the show so I am aware of what you described in the first paragraph.
Yeah, “shit” was harsh; “issues” would’ve been more appropriate (sana pwede mag-edit)… I did mention that I get the appeal for the “blurred reelity” feel of the show and I view the show differently than most…. The “public service program” shtick is a stretch (I saw it as a politician’s ploy to milk the show to boost his candidacy with that spiel… notice the audience chant his name after he described the show as such? I didn’t buy it. It’s a business – they have sponsors who provide the money to give to a winner.) KS above everything else is a romcom improv skit with 5 actors, 2 of which have somewhat of a dual role as themselves. But it still has a story and Alden is still a character whether he accepts it or not.
I NEVER said that A does not have any contribution to the show (see one of my comments in response to Wanderlust above about my view of his contribution to the show). I said “can’t he see” his co-actors’ efforts to ACT? It was meant to take him to task for calling Maine by her real name instead of her character’s. Please read the context.
As for citing his mom’s death, I should’ve said A missing his mom because the reason he always gets emotional when he sings the song GGMY is his belief that his success is due to her intercession. Notice that he bawled the moment that song was played? His emotions were tied to that (and possibly to the bashing he received from the fans) not as a reaction to what LN was saying (kaya OA ang iyak nya). That was where I was coming from when I made my comment.

My husband and I wondered about that, too. But I read some tweets that said it could mean a lot of things. Sorry dahil na-late sya. Sorry for not saying goodbye to her in KS before he went to Japan. Sorry he wasn’t as expressive as everyone else wanted him to be towards Maine. We don’t really know why he apologized. Only Maine knows for sure.

We shouldn’t read too much into the “sorry”, in my opinion. It’s what is called a blameless apology, a basic principle in handling complaints/irate people. It’s not so much an admission of fault but an acknowledgement that the other person felt hassled/slighted/inconvenienced. The belief is that until and unless the feelings are acknowledged, the “aggrieved” person will not be able to move on and calm down. And in most cases, it works, just like in A’s case. His sorry was an act of empathy because really? A didn’t do anything wrong. Now of course, there are still some people who will insist on not moving on. And in our industry, may tawag din kami for people like that and there are even seminars wholly devoted to handling those.

I think the “I’m Sorry” is for the fans. Maybe it’s A’s way of apologizing to his fans for the long absence. I think there was no need to crucify A on national TV just because he had other commitments aside from KS. But it’s a show & if it’s what will help A get back to his fans’ good graces, I’m sure he’s more than willing to do it.

I agree. I thought he was sorry for being late. At first I thought his delayed entrance was to give time for Yaya and the Lolas to bid farewell to each other but after watching the show again, I was convinced that he really was late – and that was what he was sorry for. But he could’ve put up that FS ahead of his first one so that the flow of the story was still there. It also didn’t help matters that Allan K said, “Sorry daw, Meng!” when she can’t even reply to him. That further added fuel to the speculations that he did something wrong against M – kahit inconvenience or hassle lang sya for the tardiness.
Yes, it was a blameless apology and I suppose that because of the nature of the show such odd situations can’t be avoided. It just made me sad that I had to carry A’s burdens (eg. bashing and mom’s death) when I shouldn’t (because I am supposedly watching a romcom improv show lang naman. Notwithstanding A’s great mimicking performance yesterday, it made me sad to conclude that A really is a terrible actor. I was rooting for him pa naman. (I still think of him as a good guy so I’m still rooting for their epic love story pero na-sad ako to realize that the acting praises were all just hype afer all). But that’s just me.

No txt, no outside communication just FS and dubsmashes (pakiramdaman nga lang sabi ni RFJ). So ano ang ginawa? They used their hearts to talk to each other. Maybe not in the romantic mode (too soon, hindi pa tamang panahon) but in a deep friendship mode. We can only guess kung ano ang sinasabi nila sa isat isa kasi sila lang ang nagkaka-intindihan. We don’t have the bond that they have dahil hindi natin pinagdadaanan what they as a couple go through as KS’ main characters. Sometime I even suspect that they’re mocking the audience (in a pilyo way esp NDCM) kasi nga we really don’t know what they really mean when they say “alam mo na yun” to each other.
The kalye serye writers will spin the tale in whatever way they want (pina-abduct, nagulpi, pinakasal, pinakulong, pinaghiwalay, na-plywood, na-lamesa, etc) but ano man ang pinag-dadaanan nila, these friends always greet each other with a smile. Na parang tuwang-tuwa sila that in a fleeting moment nag tagpo ang mga mata nila. O kaya kasi na-isahan na naman nila yung mga taong komu-control ng buhay (TV) nila?

Been living out of my suitcase for the last few weeks so I missed a month of KS episodes. I see that RFJ and NDCM are now allowed to talk and work together in a movie project. Ang problema, ang dami laging nakatingin. Subukan niyo kaya na mag pahiwatig ng nadadaramdaman mo sa iyong mahal habang nakamasid ang buong mundo! (Kaya nga panay ang hirit ng dalawa na sana makapagdate sila na sila lang.)
This didn’t faze them though- sign language pa more. So in the midst of all the plot twists that KS writers may think of. Sa gitna ng mga dramahan na nangyayari, nag-uusap ang dalawa sa lingwahe na sila lang ang nakakaintindi. Nag-introduce na nga ng isang Russian model kahapon but hindi alintana ng dalawa. Parang sinasabi sa lahat na bahala kayo diyan. I’m with my kaibigan. Tawagin na lang niyo kami pag may ipapagawa kayo.
People noticed and try to interpret their signs but for me, it’s a lover’s code that I better leave alone. I don’t want to intrude in their world. Suffice it is for me to witness something beautiful.
Sabi nga pala ng kaibigan ko, RFJ reminds her of me pag binabasag siya ni NDCM. Hindi gumaganti at very apologetic pa pag nababasag niya si NDCM. It’s because RFJ is very much secure with himself and a lot stronger than what people give him credit for. NDCM knows this and has the most outmost respect for him.
These people care for each other so much- hindi aktingan yung selos ni RFJ (Protective lang daw) at ingatan at baka masaktan na paalala ni NDCM sa mga fans – that they have not noticed how deeply they have fallen in love with each other. Baka mapansin nila bago mag-pasko.

i wonder though, aside from the letters that was shown on-cam, if there were letters passed off-cam.. the way they looked at each other on broadway and that “kilay language” definitely got me thinking they share a secret together.. but it’s all good.. i like the old school way of communication between them (if it’s really a possibility).. i’m happy for them. To all ALDUB fans, this is only my personal opinion pero parang nababawasan na iyong fandom ko sa Aldub since Alden went to Japan for a series of shows. I don’t really know what happened to me but it dawned on me na actingan lang talaga ang lahat. October 14 episode was a meh to me even though Alden shed tears for Yaya Dub. I feel that ALDUB is getting closer to overexposure. Nawala na iyong rawness of emotions na nakita ko since that fateful moment of July 16. Baka ako lang siguro nakakaramdam ng ganito na ALDUB. Hopefully its not a fad.

POV: siguro ang nagiging problema sa mga fans is yung mashado tayong nageexpect ng sobra sa ALDUB/MaiDen. dapat maisip natin na si A ay may career din na dapat asikasuhin like yun trip nya sa Japan it was for the 10th Anniv of Pinoy TV . Pinoy TV is under GMA at GMA artist si A so kailangan nya yun puntahan kasi part yun ng kontrata nya o sa madaling salita obligasyon nya bilang artista. yung mga out of town shows nya siguro naman dumaan din yun sa coordination with EB, hindi naman pwedeng basta na lang siguro sya nawawala esp meron na silang KS. hindi naman natin dapat ipagkait or sisihin si A sa pagattend sa mga commitments nya kasi ginagawa nya lang ang trabaho nya. we should all be happy for him pa kasi after years in showbiz sa wakas nakikilala na sya at natutupad na nya mga pangarap nya or ng nanay nya para sa kanya.
si M din naman may mga ibang commitments but she is not GMA artist, under TAPE sya so yun schedule nya dun ang susundin nya. di ba ang mga endorsements nya mga sponsors din ng EB? please correct me if i am wrong. probably if she is allowed to do out of town shows din like A malamang nawala na ng tuluyan ang KS.
hindi naman natin siguro dapat pwersahin sila na magstick sa KS dahil hindi naman yun pupwede…dun lang tayo sa reyalidad di ba.

That made me think that the “suspension” issue might be right. His absence was definitely abrupt and unplanned. But past is already past. The important thing is they were able to deliver yesterday and the story is back on-track.

Yung kay M naman kaya nagawan ng story kasi hindi naman sya matagal na nawala. and part talaga ng story na pupunta sya ng ibang lugar. yung kay A naman sa tingin ko mahirap gawan ng story alam na nilang 1 week mawawala si A kaya pinaikot nila ang story kay Isadora. POV ko lang po.

HMM may be referring to A’s Bicol gig wherein LN challenged him to get her delicacies from the region. It was integrated in the story. He was absent for 2 separate episodes then.

Napag isip2x ko lang. Maybe the EB staff know Alden’s schedule because of course they need to know that. I don’t think he was suspended at all. Napakatiming naman ng suspension niya, nataon pa sa panahong full talaga yung sched. I think hindi nila ginawan ng story yung pagjapan ni A because they wanted to see how it will go. Ano kaya magiging reaction ng mga tao?
And remember while he was away, he was really silent too even sa Twitter napakatahimik niya, isn’t it curious? While he was in Japan, lagi niyang hawak CP niya. Bakit ni update wala?
I thought maybe it was part of the plan, part of the lesson they want their viewers to learn or part of the strategy to keep the people’s interest.
See? When A was back…people learned aLOT. The FANDOM is now stronger than ever, the fans are now more attached to the characters than ever, and the staff instilled something so important to the fans “wag problemahin ang hindi naman problema”. And for sure many people learned their lessons, wag mag speculate at mangjudge kapag hindi naman talaga alam ang nangyayari.
People realized As importance sa KS, Maine got to shine, and the staff proved they know what they’re doing.
It was the much needed shaky moment for all of us. Just so we’ll make kapit pa more to this whole thing. Nasanay kasi ang mga taong laging nandiyan si Alden. Siya lagi pinapahirapan ni Lola and we’re happy about it instead na maawa sa kanya.
Alden the Ks character of course.
They’re succeeded though. Now, they redeemed Alden and made everyone realized “it will never be the same without Alden.”
Now, a lot of people will look back on that one week and tell themselves “I survived that hazy week. Ngayon pa ba ako susuko?”
So…if EB wanted the people to make kapit pa more, I think they did it. Thanks to alden’s one week absence.

I’ve been a lurker of this blog for a while now and though I read most of the comments, I find I could never catch up. Sir Vilo, your blog is huge! I’d have to give up my day job if I wanted to read everything.
Anyway, I’m a professional in my mid 30’s and I have NEVER in all my years of existence been interested in “showbiz” — may it be international or local. I live without a TV for crying out loud. My interest in Aldub began when my colleagues at work showed me a YouTube clip of their first meeting. I didn’t even have any idea what a dubsmash was at that point. Kalyeserye was well into its 4th week then and somehow, I got hooked. I began backtracking and watching replays of the episodes I’ve missed.
Once I caught up to the latest episode, I began looking forward to having lunch while watching the show via live streaming (yes, I work overseas). And that’s when I began asking myself why and how I become a follower – and gasp! – a fan of a love-team and a local one at that? The answer was not difficult to find, it came “dubsmashing” its way into my senses.
I watched Maine grow, and bloom. Imperfectly perfect, she stuck out like a sore thumb (a welcome sight) amidst the ho-hum, run-of-the-mill, primped “actresses” one finds on TV nowadays. To be honest, they all look like barbie dolls in boxes along a Toys R Us aisle to me. I can’t really tell one from the other. Whereas Maine, she is different. No fear of looking silly/ugly, or non-poised. She, with a college degree who comes from a well-to-do family. So real, and grounded. She was already pretty then, but by golly, look at her now!
As for Alden, dang that young man has looks. I had no idea who he was so I did my fair bit of research and was amazed to find nothing. Nothing in the sense that his slate was clean. That was quite surprising to me, because I was always under the impression that in showbiz, there are always skeletons in the closet. And that made me happy inside. This was a decent guy, and I could never imagine Maine being paired with some other ego-inflated party-going actor.
So for my thoughts?
1. Is it reel or real? My guess is as good as yours. I refuse to over-analyze their fan-signs and actions/expressions. I keep telling myself to just “sit back and enjoy the show,” but there’s this stubborn, tiny tug in my heart that wishes they end up together. I support them both and I am willing to just wait it out and see where it goes from here. No rush. I married my best friend after 12 years of being together, so I know very well what Tamang Panahon means.
2. Since Kalyeserye started 3 months ago, M and A have been “seeing” each other on split screen, being sweet, blowing kisses, writing fan-signs, not knowing when they would next see each other in person, and no outside communication (I don’t know if this still hold true now ;). The writers of EB have been toying with their emotions, not deliberately, but as a consequence of the script. All this with more than a million people wishing for them to be together. If they don’t develop some feelings, then they’re not human. Physiologically, it’s just not possible for them not to develop some fondness for each other. I say feelings, not love. Too early for that. But feelings yes, so there is hope.
3. To quote Ms madolldoll above, from M’s blog “Getting to know a person, whether it be a love interest or a friend, is not easy; it will actually be a struggle for some at first, but it’s always nice to know someone thoroughly – from being total strangers to acquaintances, to friends then to best friends/lovers….”
They’re far from that. Once M gets to speak and the two of them are given free reign over their time, only then can they move forward (and us too). Only then can we say, oh it was all “actingan lang” if nothing really comes of it.
In today’s episode, I was impressed. A did a perfect job. For him to be able to imitate M’s expressions, mannerisms, and tiny nuances would have taken months of deliberate practice…or months of watching her closely. When Tito said that A’s reaction was already so much like M’s (the whispering scene with Lola Nidora), and A was asked to repeat it, A wasn’t able to. In fact he looked confused. So the first instance that his reaction mirrored M’s that Tito noticed? It wasn’t acting. It was A’s subconscious taking over.
I end here. Sorry for the long post and for taking too much space in your blog Sir Vilo. That was 2 months worth of holding back my thoughts 🙂

Hi! I like the discussion here, good vibes lang. I don’t really follow any TV show or any celebrity. Not that I’m a snob, it’s just that I prefer reading to watching TV. I’ve been noticing a lot of postings about Aldub on my FB page more than a month ago, and it started to get really annoying. Anyway, I got curious and clicked on a video of Maine’s dubsmash and it was funny! Crazy girl, but really cute! I ended up clicking on a KS episode but I couldn’t follow the storyline. I watched the July 16 episode on Youtube and somehow got hooked on it. I don’t know what it was. I still couldn’t explain it, but seeing those two interact makes me feel lighter, happier and younger because of the kilig factor. I just want to say it has changed me for the better. I rediscovered my playful, silly and carefree side that has been set aside and buried under 28 years of marriage, 3 kids and a 12-hour/night workshift. In short, the realities of life overtook my zest for life…over emo ba? Not to be corny, but watching KS makes me feel giddy enough to throw my husband some flying kisses and do silly gestures that I know took him aback, probably scared him a bit into thinking that I’ve totally lost it😃 Oh well, happiness is contagious, he’s started catching my kisses in the air and throwing one back at me…Oh Lawd!!! I swear he doesn’t watch KS. Also, since I need to catch up with all episodes, not to mention replaying them over and over, I get on my elliptical machine as punishment for my Aldub addiction while watching KS on my iPad. I’m happy to say I’ve lost 7 lbs so far☺️ So KS is good for my heart and my health. Good vibes talaga! I wish M and A the best of everything and hoping talaga someday maging sila…aayiiieee😍😍

It’s actually taped. I think this week is supposed to be a downer or just routine stuff as they are preparing for the Tamang Panahon. I don’t know what kind of kilig is in store after the TP.

@morenagirl I sort of understand what you said about the kilig these past few days. It’s still there but for me there seems to be something I cannot put my fingers on. Maybe perhaps they’re just too comfortable with each other already (off cam communication perhaps?!). It feels like actingan na, more on A and some on M. (Don’t get me wrong there’s still those surprising moments.) I guess maybe A is becoming more bolder or he’s starting to listen to what everyone is saying about becoming true to what he is feeling. M doesn’t cease to amaze me though, she’s quick witted and she gets funnier each time I see her.
I still enjoy their interactions and the good vibes it brings. Really looking forward to Sat’s Tamang Panahon.

Yours is a better explanation of it @K. It’s maybe we got too used to the old kilig that it already looks plain and routine. But I totally agree with you that what manifests is a higher level of comfort between the actors or a leveled-up interpersonal relationship.

@DoctorBee and to everyone else: I got curious as to how other love teams portray themselves on screen, so I watched a few on YouTube. From what I’ve seen, I would prefer A&M to be different, how I’m not sure. They are already different, but now that they’ll spend more time together, I was just wondering if their management will build them up the same way. I’m curious as to what their unique selling point will be when they start becoming a full on loveteam.

I’m also thinking about it. My level of admiration for then is very high that I don’t want to see them as cliché when they are together, as with the others. For one, they are the first in the Philippines who underwent a different approach in introduction to the public. They started out as accidental and the public saw the growth and development of the duo. Maybe, what would be their best selling point is still their organic nature and how “real” they are to the eyes of the people. What will maintain their popularity is their evolution as real-life couple, as this will fill the hunger of the many for destiny related stories. Talent-wise, there’s still a big room for improvement and I hope their managements will also take a look on that. They have that big potential, anyway.

Let me add. I’m imagining a scenario wherein the roles they will play will parallel their real-life situation/maturity. If initially they can play the “kiligan” roles in a rom-com set-up, later on they can handle more mature and intimate roles. There’s really a big room for development. I hope their managements won’t f**ck up. Well, all these things are my opinion. I’m new to this and I’m not into showbiz before.

Thank you for your reply Doctor Bee. Same sentiments hence been wondering how this LT will pan out after this Sat’s Tamang Panahon. I guess I just do not want all this hype to go to waste. I am one of those who would like to see how their LT develop from reel to real. As you said if they continue with its organic nature and if emotions/feelings portrayed are kept real, then I also believe it will work. It will be such a long journey ahead.
The mgt surely has a big task to take. Even experience alone will not be sufficient to keep this tandem stronger. Kahit A I guess will struggle, nasanay siya from his previous LTs. M on the other hand is different, bago and fresh plus ‘a what you see is what you get’ type of person, so there is no doubt na she will make that difference, providing she is guided properly. An advantage though is the influence of social media. This platform is acting as their support system, they really must use it well. If they need to hire people na tututok sa mga comments and tweets 24/7, then they should. They will surely know what the fans are looking for.
Sorry, getting carried away. Just by writing above, I realised that this is truly a phenomenon. Imagine a loveteam created in the new (tech) era. Parang pang space age. Anu be yann!

Hi @K and @Doctor Bee, I don’t have any connections in the industry. I’m just a fan here myself – a first-time fan just like you. And a bigger fan of the KS than the personalities.
In addition to the manner of introduction and the personalities of the two (as what you have both mentioned), I think the real unique selling point of their LT is the experience they’ve gained from the KS itself. It’s the only show that broadcasts a live improv skit (in a long 30-45 minute sequence) that has its actors interacting via split screen. Add to that the sitcom nature of the show thereby allowing them to react to extremely ridiculous situations. No other LT has proven their acting chops this way (wala itong take 2 at walang commercial breaks so doing a scripted show would probably go easier for them).
It’s tough to replicate such a show. So short of having them do a reality TV type of show, I can’t imagine how they could keep that USP. (But no one can ever take away that experience from them.) I think they’ll have to go through the same process of memorizing scripts and getting into character just like any other actor/LT. But I suspect that those of us who fell in love with these beautiful people for their unique personalities will continue to support them in their endeavors outside of the KS. I can only hope that they be given well-directed/produced projects with a solid story (preferably something original).
And I agree with K, their social media engagement has certainly helped (and could continue to help) sustain the fan support. Though I won’t necessarily require them to live out our fantasy of a real-life romance for them to get my support. I’ll just demand a natural portrayal of whatever role/character they’re tasked to play (as I would any good actor).

I totally agree Doctor Bee and K. My worry is overexposure. Part of the success of AlDub is that people are hungry for more because there was a conscious effort to not make them too accessible to everyone. Alden did the public appearances but Maine was kept in the sidelights. Yes there were commercials but we didn’t see her talk or be all over TV. Everytime there’s a new picture of her, people rave. Madalang kasi. Everytime she speaks, it’s like a new invention was discovered. It excites people.
It’s the law of scarcity. That’s what GOT and Sherlock Holmes and all these other successful shows adopt. It’s not available all the time.
If you see diamonds at your doorstep all the time, it doesn’t feel that precious anymore.
Sana their management will be wise.

I vehemently oppose her joining SPS for many different reasons. One of them is, yes, overexposure but more importantly, SPS is not the show for her. It’s crowded already and the presence of Alden’s former paramour only fuels controversies. At this point in their relationship, real or reel, that’s completely unnecessary.
I would like for Maine to have a segment in the news featuring funny videos, extraordinary talent, etc. Ellen and Good Morning America feature viral videos every episode so it’s good to have Maine introduce these. Then a quick interaction with news anchors. It’s a classy platform, and gives her a chance to show her as a fashionista. She is a product of videos, it would just be awesome for her to go back to this. It’s hosting but in a less demanding scale. They can feature her once a week for a trial period.
But definitely NOT SPS. It will also irk Marian Rivera fans… there are loyal fans there too who don’t want their queen dethroned.

@Cheska I agree with the SPS thing. A one day guesting perhaps and if possible to not orient Tisoy again (that’s my inner pixie fairy Menggay talking) just to keep him on his toes 🙂 They’ve already got the movie coming up in December and I believe another Vday movie, doing separate projects right now would be good for them.

Oooh. I just thought of a concept for a project for them… instead of the usual boy meets girl and fall in love as they interact, maybe they can do one that has serendipity as a theme or something similar to How I Met Your Mother (except they don’t have too many relationships with other people)…basta some story where the characters don’t have a lot of on-screen interactions. This kind of addresses the point @cheskavargas made about scarcity (though not of the exposure of the individual personalities but the tandem). That’ll be a little different than the usual LT.

@madoldoll. Yes, I love that! I also like the Pride and Prejudice theme. I mentioned this before that Alden fits the Mr. Darcy character while Maine’s free-spirit totally fits Elizabeth Bennet. Or the Bridget Jones story… Darcy and Bridget didn’t have a lot of together/kilig scenes, but when the “prejudice” was resolved, there’s the magic.
I would oppose a love triangle, though. Too messy and would be a career suicide for the third wheel (fans really protect this tandem so seriously).

That’s a great idea @madolldoll. For sure, it will sell to all the fans out there. I hope they will find a good production team though and won’t settle for mediocre ones. Take the “Wish I May” music video, for example.

Regardless of the story, for as long as all the elements of the project (eg. acting, production, story, sound, etc) are of good quality then it’ll sell itself.
In addition, I also hope that the producer won’t cram their films with in-your-face product placements (a criticism of past Vic Sotto-produced films). I get that they may need to defray their production costs but the product placements have to be subtle. If they have to waste precious movie seconds (or devote an entire scene) just to promote a product, it will just distract from the story thereby eroding the quality of the film. They have to be confident that if they give us a good quality film, the ticket sales will be more than enough to cover their costs.
PS. Ang funny din natin no? Talagang concerned sa career ng mga batang ito. Hahaha.

@madolldoll @cheskavargas continuing from our convo above, I remember what you both said about over exposure, hence, came here to get your inputs about M replacing Marian Rivera on Sunday Pinasaya. I did enjoy the prank M pulled on A last Sunday but for them to be in it together, am not too keen. I think it was one of TAPE execs who twitted a hint about a gift to Aldubnation as a thank you for SPS achieving over a million tweet last Sunday. As a guest perhaps but as a mainstay?! If indeed they are looking to do it, from the tweet alone, it is so obvious that they are taking advantage of the Aldub popularity. The show itself already feels like an extension of KS, and in fact, the other artists ay nasasapawan na kahit wala si M don. I think it is best for TAPE (whom I believe is M’s mgt) to produce a different show for M alone of course sa Tamang Panahon. Although A and M are a LT, it will be more productive for both of them to do separate projects to showcase their talents, improve their craft and establish a much stronger followers/fans for them as individuals and as a loveteam.

Hmm. I actually think M fits in with the SPS format. She is the comedienne of the two (though A does a decent hosting job as well).
As much as we’d like to have a say in how often they appear together on screen, for me, it ultimately boils down to what they want to do. What makes M so effective in making me laugh is that I see her enjoy what she does. If she’ll enjoy her gig on that show then she should do that. I’d like to see her work with other actors her age, too. I just hope she portrays different characters because if I see Yaya again, it just might ruin it for me.
(Or maybe M could fill in temporarily for Marian then for A in succeeding SPS episodes when he has to rehearse for his Valentine concert? Kawawa rin yang batang yan. Walang pahinga.)

I still find the episodes this week to quote bitoy absurdly satisfying even without the kilig. In fact I like KS more now because it no longer requires its audience to focus on feels alone in watching the show but we can now focus on its comedic element. Di ba every great show should be like that naman it can atand on its own without audiences emotionally invested in it. And there’s some sort of calm, contentment and peace between A and M na tumatawid sa screen. Ang galing talaga ni Meng in using the same material pero she takes us by surprise by giving it unexpected twists. Hindi boring mga dubsmash nila. Nakakatuwa. Ang gagaling din ng JoWaPao. Nakakapagod nga lang tumawa ng tumawa pala. Nakakahingal.

GO MENGGAY!! GO MENGGAY!! GO MENGGAY!! NO ONE can say that you cannot stand on your own after these past weeks episodes and I mean NO ONE!!! My tummy is still hurting from “Pardible” and Richards 10X = Faulkerson (this one cannot be scripted, it just can’t be! your facial expression alone gave that away :))) Then yesterday (model pa more!!), “I’ve had enough!”, “umalis na!”, nasa Bulacan na and of course “MEEH!!”. Damn girl!! I could not have been prouder, you’ve come a long way baby!!!! :))

@vilo bb girl is stepping up her game big time and can’t help but be proud of what she has accomplished in such a short period of time :)) The jokes and banter between her and RJ has been really fun the last couple of weeks. And as much as I cringed when they introduced Cindy, I have to give props to the girl for being able to hold her own in the last 2-3 episodes. And I’m wondering how much she knows about AlDub and AlDub Nation as it takes guts to step in as the third party in this show (alam mo na….hawhaw). Anyways, thank you for your blog, for your words of wisdom and tolerating all of us who have invaded your site – from the ones who gives “constructive”/constructive criticisms and intellectual insights to the shows mechanics, from the SOCO teams to the vitriol who call themselves “fans”….THANK YOU!!
